Since the majority of spending is for things other than defense, the majority of the borrowing is for things other than defense.

Not true.

Also not a very useful way to determine what we need to spend. If the UK and France and Germany and Italy and Japan and South Korea, tripled their spending, that wouldn't cause a need for the US to increase spending. If they all cut their spending a lot it wouldn't mean we should cut (in fact to the extent that we would take up the slack for some of their efforts it would put upward pressure on our defense budgets.

But posts and complaints by the Fowler's of the world for the moral and right thing to have health care for all of America's citizens

The problem is what Obama and the congressional Democrats are proposing here doesn't vaguely resemble what's moral or right for American citizens.
