I'd say that potential sales of $3 billion are fairly compelling. The x-box has a number of features that make it superior to competing platforms. Even if the market place views it as simply comparable to PS2, MSFT will be very successful. MSFT is a software company and they will employ hundreds, perhaps thousands of game designers that will bring in big $$$. The revenue and eps from the platform and the games will increase the value of MSFT and that's the bottom line, cause Stone Cold says so.

Currently:

Nintendo sells games to Nintendo console owners.
Sega sells games to Sega console owners.
Sony sells games to Sony console owners.

In the future:

Microsoft sells games to XBox console owners AND PC owners, simply a bigger potential market overall don't you think?
I imagine that for little effort the Game makers can ship their wares on two significant platforms, the XBox and the PC...
The model for games are that they pay the console owners Royalty or Licensing fees. Couldn't Microsoft get those fees for BOTH platforms?
