The US charges that Canada is illegally subsidizing its forest industry. Given that, what IS the alternative to a NAFTA dispute resolution. If the US loses the dispute, I have no doubt they will abide by the ruling.

I am perfectly willing to open the US borders to both neighbors. But that means OPEN. You don't get to slam huge tariffs on US liquor and tobacco to pay for your socialized medicine. And you don't get to slam huge taxes that are not customs duties on goods that are made in the US but not Canada. And Mexico doesn't get to limit its workforce to Mexican citizens.

I think Canada would do well under such an arrangement. You've got an educated populace that can produce. Mexico would have a harder time because of its decades of share-the-poverty socialism.
