Russia, China insist Iran has right to nuclear fuel cycle: vice president
TEHRAN, Oct. 28 (MNA) -- Russia and China hold a favorable stance toward Iran’s nuclear issue, First Vice President Parviz Davudi said on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters upon arriving from Moscow where he attended a prime ministerial meeting of member countries to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Davudi expressed hope that Russia would adopt a position in favor of Iran at the November meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors.

Davudi noted that during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Russian side had promised to develop all-out ties with Iran.

“Putin stressed that Russia is a friend for Iran and will always support the Islamic Republic. Iran’s stances on economic ties and nuclear fuel were also discussed.”

“The Russian president and the Chinese prime minister stressed Iran’s right to master a nuclear fuel cycle.”

Davudi noted that Iran seeks to develop political, security and economic ties with SCO member states, adding that economic, commercial and financial cooperation between SCO member states were discussed in the conference.

“We also held talks with Pakistani officials on how Iran could help victims of the recent devastating earthquake in this neighboring country,” he observed.

The SCO meeting was held in Moscow on Wednesday. Davudi also held talks with the prime ministers of Russia, Tajikistan, Mongolia, and the foreign minister of India on the sidelines of the meeting.
