Why Bush didn't go to NOLA As you know, I'm from Texas. I've heard from my sources there that W was strongly advised to GO to NOLA. He was told by his handlers that this could be another "bullhorn on ground zero" moment for him, just in a boat. He replied that it was a well know fact in Texas that blacks can't swim, that they lack the natural buoyancy of white folks. That's why, despite excelling in all other areas of sport, they aren't in swimming. W said that he was afraid some drowning black would get a death grip on him, and pull him under. No, NOLA was a no go. Air Force One was as close as he'd get, until the waters subsided.
