Dear Bob,

<Anyone with even a touch of computer savvy can use a Windows '95 machine with the same ease that an Apple can be used.>

There's the crux of our difference. I'm not interested in just being able to turn a machine on and type a letter. Yes, the Windows bastardization of the Mac GUI has made those machines more user friendly, but using them still doesn't provide as intuitive an interface as the Mac does. I can teach my dog to sit still while I balance a biscuit on her nose, but that doesn't make that behavior natural for a dog. Besides, the majority of people using Windows machines have someone setting it up for them, so the ease-of-use issue is really moot on the Windows platform. Those machines have never exactly been plug-and-play.

<Comparing a Windows 95 to Apple as being a Mercedes to a Yugo is the typical rhetoric that is indicative of Apple's fall.>

Wrong, as usual. It's the typical rhetoric that has enabled Apple to stick around in the midst of naysayers such as yourself.

<Likewise saying the best Windows machine isn't anywhere as good as the worst Mac is a silly statement that bears no resemblance to reality.>

Use both machines -- as I have -- and see how silly a statement that is, Bob.

<If you are going to make charges be sure that they are at least true.>

What is 'truth,' Bob? How do 'facts' have any bearing on subjective things like user satisfaction?

<Tucker made a superior vehicle...it doesn't matter.>

It doesn't? To whom does it not matter? To the people who drove and enjoyed driving a Tucker? I bet it mattered to them.

<Percentage wise, few high techs are taking the hit Apple has the last couple of days.>

Come on, Bob. Practice what you preach. How many other techs have ganked their earnings this badly recently? You know they get beat up just as much when they do, so comparing a company that's posted a loss that's the result of a recent earnings announcement to a company that's posting a loss just because the techs are getting hit doesn't make a lot of sense. I think Apple should've gotten flat-out CREAMED, but it didn't. Not comparatively. Not if you're honest.

Have a great weekend.

Mark
