The Federal unemployment supplement was designed as a financial incentive to remain in quarantine as long as needed.

The unhappy are those who were working under-the-table, thus don't qualify for unemployment benefits.

This includes a lot of anti-government tax cheats, and most undocumented foreigners.


The noisy highly publicised ones are of course the tax-cheats. Many protesters have that predictable ex-convict look.

The undocumented foreigners, like housekeepers and gardeners, quietly continue to work - or desperately look for other employers if their employer doesn't want to take the risk of receiving workers in their home. Some have turned to selling masks on the streets.

I'd be very surprised if the majority of workers in meat processing plants are in the US legally. Most in undesirable jobs like that have forged identity documents - and they're the ones with the high death rates.

This is seen with Covid-19 antibody testing in San Francisco. Only 44% of those tested were Hispanic / Brazilian, whether citizens or illegals, but this population made up 99% of the positive antibody tests.

One explanation is Hispanics are generally less healthy, but the real underlying reason is these are people who need to continue working, frequently work without healthcare benefits, and in the case of immigrants often live six people to a two bedroom apartment.
