"I think new electronic gadgets are bought for comfort by many - regardless of the economy" Interesting observation. They may have replaced going to the movies during bad times... now many get their entertainment on these devices so when you might not be able to afford a new $20K car or a $2K vacation, you might spend $200 to upgrade to a newer cell phone when your contract comes due and maybe spend the monthly movie ticket money on a data plan. Others might "downsize" from a full feature $1K laptop to a $700 tablet since they really don't create content but for facebook and twitter... which these devices are designed to handle pretty well.
