When a friend of ours died, they transposed the numbers that indicated her date of death on a form, so instead of the correct 12/10 it read 10/12 and the SS in the blink of an eye had deducted the monthly payments of november and december from her direct deposit account as being overpayments. The lesson is to have it deposited to an account, then immediately moved to another. It will take her kids a long time to get it returned if they decide to pursue it.
