Onetta Selects Datasweep for Real-Time Collaborative Manufacturing

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 26, 2001--
Optical Subsystems Manufacturer Using Datasweep with J.D. Edwards and Agile Software for Product Lifecycle Management

Datasweep, Inc., the leading provider of real-time collaborative manufacturing solutions, today announced that Onetta, Inc., the leading developer and manufacturer of intelligent optical engines, has selected the Datasweep solution to manage its manufacturing operations. Onetta selected Datasweep Advantage as the best-in-class software solution that integrates plant floor operations, quality control, return material authorization and repair processes, and complex analysis capabilities across the entire product lifecycle - from new product introduction to end of life. Datasweep will be integrated into J.D. Edwards OneWorld(TM) and Agile Software's Agile Anywhere(TM) to provide Onetta with a fully integrated supply chain solution. Onetta develops and manufactures intelligent subsystems for optical network equipment manufacturers and network service providers deploying regional, nationwide and global optical networks.

Datasweep will provide Onetta with complete visibility into and control of the quality and work in process throughout its manufacturing operations. Datasweep will also enable Onetta to capture and access detailed "as built" and "as maintained" device history records of all specific components within final finished units throughout their lifecycle. Onetta will use current and historical production data stored in Datasweep's integrated datamart to perform complex analysis on high volumes of production information to identify high impact component design or manufacturing process improvements.

"Onetta's rapid time-to-market and rapid time-to-volume business strategy maps perfectly with Datasweep's capabilities," said Allan Rixen, director of business systems at Onetta. "Furthermore, the combined solution of Datasweep, J.D. Edwards and Agile gives Onetta complete product lifecycle management capabilities throughout the extended supply chain." Onetta has emerged as one of the most progressive companies in the optical subsystems market, with plans to migrate to a collaborative manufacturing process that includes online visibility to key suppliers. This same system provides its customers with Web visibility into the company's manufacturing operations. As part of Onetta's integrated supply chain visibility strategy, Datasweep will work with J.D. Edwards and Agile to link planning and design information to manufacturing and repair data. Datasweep's integration with J.D. Edwards will help provide more accurate data on plant capacity and yields to improve production planning and procurement. The integration with Agile ensures that critical product content is communicated to the plant floor in real-time to manage changes and improve time-to-volume. The combination of these three solutions will result in continuously improved product quality, reduced inventory and increased cost savings for Onetta.

"The complexity of advanced subsystem manufacturing requires a very high level of visibility and control on the plant floor. Datasweep offers Onetta the internal visibility needed to ensure quality, improve yields and speed time to market," said Vladimir Preysman, president and CEO of Datasweep. "In addition, Datasweep offers real-time visibility throughout the extended supply chain for complete control of in-house and outsourced manufacturing."
