This thread has a large number of posters that are not citizens of the USA, and cannot see first-hand what is happening in the USA today, other than in news bites on television.

I am a USA citizen, and I'm no spring chicken anymore. I have never failed to exercise my right to vote ever since I became of age. I've seen a lot of elections.

I have never, never ever, seen such a turnout for voting as I saw today. The number of folks voting is unbelievable given the past propensity of Americans to squander their voting privileges. Young and old alike are voting today.

As to who will win the Presidency, I can't really say for sure. I live in a voting district that is very fiscally conservative, and very heavily Republican, so it's not surprising that in my area Republicans are voting in what must be record numbers. What I can say is that nearly everyone who can vote seems to have turned out today. None of the standard excuses like "I have no time." or "My one vote isn't really meaningful to the larger picture.". Nope, nearly everyone is voting today.

And the voting is contentious. There is a very clear division between the Republicans and the Democrats. Regardless of who ultimately wins this election, there is a huge chasm betwixt the electorate. A veritable Grand Canyon...

I've not seen Americans this motivated ever, not even during the Viet Nam war period. People got a burr in their saddles. The next four years should be very, very interesting...
