Hello Adam,

While lurking on this thread (which is no small task to keep up with) I noticed your post on RDRAMs vs. SDRAMS and it brought to mind the everlasting debate over Unified Memory Architectures.

Although I don't follow the company, I was wondering if you are familiar with the work Sequent is doing with parallel processors and new system bus designs. As I recall Sequent was started by former Intel EE's and I was wondering whether or not Intel is supportive of their work. I am not sure but I believe they only use Pentiums in their new systems.

Of course this does not mean Intel is playing any role there. While I don't know or understand the bus or memory systems they employ, one might assume that Intel is at least aware of the methods they use to link the CPU's to the system main memory. Whatever the method I would also assume that it provides fairly high bandwidth. Could it be that Intel is planning to shift to a similar system bus but connected to RDRAMS?

NightOwl.
