Racso: MSN charges $29 per month (and has a permanent ad from COMPAQ on the Home Page): other IP charge from $12-35.

The telephone connections are got through cable companies, or by a number of competing telcoms as well as BT. The tariffs are bewildering. There is a basic unit cost - based on the mintue or part of a minute used - then special discounts and even free periods at weekends. But it is an expensive proposition for the average family and one that substantially restrains the use of the internet in the UK and Europe.
