How does any of what you posted demonstrate a legal duty to rat out his source?

He had a journalistic and personal duty to rat out himself.

Woodward made numerous appearances on television and radio where he stated his opinion on Fitzgerald's investigation and downplayed the significance of the alleged conduct of administration figures.

On Larry King Live, he called Fitzgerald "a junkyard-dog prosecutor, and he goes everywhere and asks every question and turns over rocks and rocks under rocks and so forth."

At no point in providing personal opinion did Woodward reveal that he had a specific and personal interest in Fitzgerald's investigation. While giving his "opinion" he never revealed he had information that was significant to the investigation.

I know he is a "big name", but he can not give opinion on stuff and not tell people he has a personal stake in the matter.

That is not jounalism.

I am a nobody. If I tell people lies, hide the truth, mislead people, people will let me know about it.

But with Woodward, he is getting away with it.
