That's right. Force and intimidation go hand in hand in Iraqi politics. In fact, that behavior is very typical of ME politics in general


If naked force and brutal intimidation are defined as politics, then the fact that "Iraqi politics put Saddam in charge" is pretty much irrelevant to the discussion. Saddam wasn't in charge because Iraqis decided that was what was best for them. He was in charge because Saddam decided that him being in charge in Iraq was best for him. So once again - Whether or not the invasion was a good idea, removing Saddam from power isn't deciding what's best for the people of Iraq, its letting them decide what's best.

And please don't come back and say it hasn't failed.

Strictly speaking the invasion succeeded with relative ease, the "nation building" afterwords has gone poorly, but its not accurate to say it has already failed.
