and Asia and Latin America are still hemorraging,

I think we will see a rally in Japan tonite. The slide against the yen is VERY good for Asia! If Asia recovers, the rest of the world will take care of itself. We are about to bail out Brazil, and I dont think Brazil is that bad off, not near as bad as Asia. But lets fix No. 2 first, right?

If Asia rallies and holds for a couple of weeks, this may be the end. But Japan also needs banking reform and until that happens I see the yen strength short lived and the markets weaker.
