This source and another government official said that archivists gave Berger use of a special room for reviewing the documents. He was examining the documents to recommend to the Bush administration which papers should be released to the commission investigating the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.

Yeah! Well! This citizen is outraged that former Clinton National Security Advisor Samuel Berger would be allowed the discrepancy as to exactly which papers should be released to the 9/11 commission.

"This is a terrible experience for him, and he's embarrassed by his mistakes," Lockhart said, "but I think he also feels a sense of injustice that after building a reputation as a tireless defender of his country that many Republicans would try to assassinate his character to pursue their own ends."

This certainly is "terrible." But not in the sense that Lockhart eludes. It is troubling that Lockhart and the Kerry campaign don't realize that the actual injustice that has been perpetrated on American citizens will not be viewed in the same light.

Must Lockhart and the democratic party be reminded that this isn't about Sandy Berger?

I want a full accounting, I want to know which documents are missing, and I want to know what they say.
