No, one of them is not wrong. A market maker takes no chances. Options are constructed on win only solutions. His customers may win or loose, but he will have hedged every transaction he must write with an off setting position that has profit.

PS Microsoft has a surprise conference call at 5pm today where they will announce further support for General Magic and a added equity position. Well, we can wish can't we?
