Stephen,

1) They only got rid of 1 of 63 clone makers. Three or four others have pulled back leaving %90 of the clone makers.

2) Alliance with Microsoft: to pressure IBM.

3) Its what they have and I have found that NT's protected memory to be vapor-protective, it doesn't work.

1) The new boards are finally attractively priced

2) A 50mgz buss on a mac is faster than the equivilent PC buss. Mac did not directly address this issue because they were putting the R&D into backside cache etc. In other words, like SGI, they are searching for a better design not just incremental speed improvements.
