Orewoebegoned and Washingyourmineintoblivion are two popular no-mining-we-just-don't-want-it-we're-modern-and-techie states.

Anyone got any more?

We don't like to admit it, but Canada has its no-mining areas. BC used to be one. Could get dragged into jail in hang-em cuffs and leg irons for exploring in La-La land under the NPD. Ontario has had its ups and down, although permits are being granted slowly. The NWT is slow to get permits and red tape crazy. Many won't invest in new mines in that area.

Good news is the conservatives will be much easier (we hope) to deal with as far as permitting goes. Could be a boom.

Mejico has its problems as does Argentina. It seems everybody at one time or another has beat the bejeesus out of miners for something to do. (India unless bribe money is huge. Phillipines, Indonesia, New Guinea Vietnam, etc.. all have tied up miners in red tape and glue.)
