I wish I knew why, but as long as I can remember SGEN's been rumored as a buyout target, and I believe that's part of the reason it's traded for so much more than IMGN. Here's a current example: siliconinvestor.com At current prices, IMGN could be bought out for a tiny fraction of SGEN's current market cap. A billion dollar offer would be roughly four times our current price, and less than 20% of SGEN's market cap. I've always believe IMGN's partners are its defense against such a buyout, but at current prices I frankly can't believe that no one is giving it a try. While a bidding war would be great for investors, if management fails to do something that dramatically increases share price, I've got to believe either a current partner, or perhaps even a competitor, will make an offer.
