The truth is far more mundane than you make it out to be. Big Pharma can host doctors on "educational seminars" and give out free pens and stationery, but doctors are under NO obligation to prescribe their drugs. None. Nada. Zilch. They are not obligated to prescribe them any more than a patient is obligated to ask for the brand name drug just because he or she saw it on TV. Or a sports athlete is obligated to drink Gatorade just because he or she attended an event sponsored by Gatorade. In other words, there really is "no money in the deal." Tenchusatsu
