In Texas? Probably. Outside of Texas, especially large cities? Probably not. It is perfect if there are traffic jams. The engine just shuts off and starts up instantly with no penalty.

The industry has felt that 200 miles was the practical minimum. Which is why the US car industry has never really gotten behind the idea. I think they are wrong there is a viable market for a shorter range.

But, again, my concern is batteries. Lead-acid batteries could be cycled many times. The batteries in my notebook or cellphone, not so much. So how many charge/discharge cycles are the batteries good for? If they last a year or two and cost $15k to replace, then I think I am going to pass...
