There will never be peace in the Mideast until certain political issues are confronted and resolved.

That's right. They are being confronted Militarily right now, and will continue to be confronted until then can be resolved. There is no use setting down to negotiate until you are in a position to make sure that your opponent will negotiate in good faith. Remember, "War is just a continuation of Politics."
