Against what odds? Israel has always had a lot more money, ammo, and international backing

Only since the 1970's. Arab countries had the backing of the FSU before that, just like Vietnam. The North Vietnamese not only whacked the Southern Vietnamese forces, but also took on a significant amount of USA forces too.

The Arab countries had Israel surrounded, with vast military forces at their disposal but failed.

Nasser's dramatic and belligerent gestures brought him great popularity with the Arabs but, ultimately, disaster on the ground.

The Egyptian leader had been increasingly well-armed and supported by the Soviet Union since the mid-1950s. But he calamitously overplayed his hand in May 1967, after a series of border incidents and false reports of Israeli troop movements.
