The main difference is that when GM gives a discount
its reports as revenue the difference between the
price paid and the discount, but not Nick and the
boys at BRCM. They report the price paid as revenue
and they throw the discount into the ``goodwill''
of acquisitions. Next time I'll buy books at AMZN, I'll
ask Jeff Bezos to give me a warrant to buy 2 shares
of MAZN for 24 cents each for each book I buy. I bet
it would spike AMZN revenues real fast.

BRCM is violating the most elementary accounting
standards. There is no way the SEC can avoid
looking at it.
