Motorola and Nokia best known brands in US cellular market, claims study

DEC 21, 1999, M2 Communications - In terms of brand awareness, Motorola and Nokia occupy the top two positions in the US cellular market, according to a new study published by Strategy Analytics.

The report, called US Handset Market Perceptions, says that Nokia has scored well in terms of style with American users, and it has also earned a reputation for value for money. Motorola has managed to sustain its position in the marketplace but is, claims Strategy Analytics, threatened by Nokia for leadership in the power user segment.

And with the exit of Sony from the US cellular market, the report believes there exists a significant opportunity for a third major player to emerge, with Ericsson and Samsung seen as the main candidates
