Apple didnt even desing the LOOK of the ipod. They got it from a third party design firm. All they did was write the software for it.

And your analogy does not hold water, because the final product, the movie, is what consumers saw. Not the cameras or the filmstock.

If Kubrick were apple, then the movie would have been produced and designed by a third party who presented several choices to Kubrick and then Kubrick said "ok, I like this movie you made, let's distribute it."

Apple does not have to manufacture or design the nuts and bolts to be the designer of the machines.
That is like saying Kubrick did not make film because he didn't manufacture the cameras or make the film emulsion.
