You might be right. Amati is not waiting for the telcos to decide what is going to happen. Amati's deal with NEC is telling. NEC has already installed several SUPER ATM LANs in private enterprices in countries like Japan, Malasia, Australia Russia, etc. NEC's business is one of network integration of several communication devises like telephones, faxes, computers, etc., into these LANs. They are not stopping at copper, they are also using fiber optics. VDSL is very fitting within their product integration as one more product in their suit towards the simplification and eficacy of their LAN's. They have good penetration in the overseas telephone markets.For Amati this is a great introduction into this markets.
