Cisco recently conceded defeat when they said that their alliance with Alcatel will focus on Enterprise rather than Telecom Carriers. Alcatel has decided to team up with Ascend in that arena You need to do a bit more homework here. I don't think it was "defeat" Cisco admitted to. Rather that both Alcatel and Cisco wanted to be dominant in the Telco's. Since this isn't synergistic to each companies business they decided to part in this area. So, what does this say about ASND's telco aspirations? Are they willing to concede business in this space for the sake of the partnership? This is why Cisco is successful with their partners - they seek equitable value for both organizations - when there is none they downplay the relationship. I can't disagree with you more when you say that this is a "defeat"...I see this as a success. OG
