KIS When the first iPods came out I was skeptical about them. You see, like you, I did not understand the concept.

What I didn't understand is this was NOT a smaller walkman. Even though I have a degree in design I did not see that this was a fundamental mind shif in musical storage and production. And I've been in and out of the music business several times.

What I wanted and still want is a Nano, which wasn't around then so my mind was FOCUSED on my needs and wants instead of what this product was.

Essentially you can carry your entire collection, no matter how large anywhere. I have little use for this so I was blind and wrong about what it meant. I've come around since then to understanding how this will change the business.

I think you are kind of the same way about Apple. You don't really understand what Apple sells. You see hardware or software. The people who buy Apple products see something else. They have a passion for ultra high tech tools.

Now talk to any mechanic and they will tell you that cheap tools are a waste of money. You can fix a car with crappy tools buy no mechanic wants to use them.

Apple as a design firm is really a concept you just can't conceptualize within your brain. Some people never will because they are stubborn. But I can tell you I know Windows users who didn't know anything about Apple. When I tell them you can dual boot or when I tell them there has never been a virus on OSX they are amazed. And they generally want one.
