Still, the sharp rise in Pt/Pd has been fueled <ggg> by the strong demand (present and forecasted) for the metals by the auto industry to comply with the new emission control standards. This is what sent the metals into the 400's - the gap up into the 500's has been driven <ggg> by rapidly increasing concern over the integrity of Russian supply. So far as I know , there is strong skepticism that a suitable substitute for the metals will be found for catalytic converters. BWDIK.
