GOOD FENCES KEEP BAD NEIGHBOURS OUT By Nelson Ascher - Europundits
Let's be honest: the Palestinian leadership and quite probably most of the Arab leadership as well never wanted the creation of an independent country called Palestine living side by side with Israel. Whether many or most Palestinians ever wanted it I don't know and it is, anyway, completely irrelevant by now.
The Palestinian cause has always been about the destruction of the Jewish state inside whatever borders, those of 1947, 1948, 1949, 1967, 1968, 2004. If the common Palestinians have been used as a tool to reach this goal, well, they haven't resisted too much against the instrumentalization of their lives and future.
No foreseeable non-nuclear war can destroy Israel and a nuclear war wouldn't respect borders, that is, even if the Iranian mullahs get their nukes and destroy Israel, they'll be destroying both small and greater Palestine along with its inhabitants.
The last chance that the Arab and European enemies of Israel had to dismantle it was the Oslo salami tactics. It failed. Israel proved that killing Hamas', Jihad's and other leaderships was basically a fatal blow and that, yes, there was a military solution to jihadist terror.
But if there is one thing that proves clearly Israel's success, that's the global hysteria surrounding the fence. The building of the fence will allow Israel to win this war and forget about the Palestinians. If this weren't so, why would the Palestinians, the Arabs, the Europeans, the leftists and everyone who wanted to see Israel destroyed in such a state of panic? Simply because the fence works.
If, as so many say, the Palestinians are so desperate, now they can kill themselves at home in their own cities and villages. But always behind the fence. I wish them good luck. |
