Actually, I was thinking about them when I wrote that post.

At least AMD is going after a very lucrative market. Profit margins for x86 processors are very healthy, at least for Intel. AMD has always had the potential to eat some of Intel's lunch. Sometimes AMD even succeeds.

That's really not the case for GM. Profit margins in the auto industry are quite tight. Even Toyota is suffering these days, though part of that is their own fault.
