Yes, that region of the Arab world has the greatest chance of adopting western liberal democracy than any other.

This is obviously due to factors such as proximity to Europe, as well as the significant positive influences left behind from French colonial times. The Islamists would have liked to eradicate the latter, but it is not so easily done once the genie is out of the bottle....

One problem Algeria has faced is that Morocco has been cynically looking the other way when Groupe Islamique Armé (GIA) terrorists seek refuge on their territory, but this is just more of the usual problem - Arab nations do each other more mutual harm than the US, Israel, or ex colonial Europe ever has or will.

And Saudi Arabia has never been colonized, not even by Europe let alone the US, so what's their problem ??? The answer is obvious, religious intolerance worthy of the dark ages :-( What a bummer that they're sitting on the pot of black gold, isn't it.
