Eastman Kodak Company Selects Lexar Media to Supply 32MB
CompactFlash Digital Film

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 11, 1998--Lexar Media, Inc., the technology leader in High Performance Digital Film(tm), announced today that Eastman Kodak Company [NYSE:EK - news] is purchasing the company's CompactFlash(tm) and PC Card flash memory products. The Lexar Media memory cards serve as removeable, reuseable digital film and are compatible with Kodak's wide-range of digital cameras.

''Kodak recognizes the value in a high-capacity, high-reliability, durable storage medium for digital cameras. We understand where and how people use cameras,'' said Jeff Peters, general manager, Digital Imaging, and vice president, Digital and Applied Imaging, Eastman Kodak Company. ''That's why we continue to use CompactFlash media. It's proven itself repeatedly and has achieved growing acceptance among camera users.''

''Kodak is the pacesetter in digital camera's today and we are proud to be a supplier of their highest capacity digital film cards,'' said John Reimer, president and CEO of Lexar Media. ''As an early and active advocate of the CompactFlash standard, their support of our products is especially important.''

In November 1997, Lexar Media announced CompactFlash products featuring the industry's fastest sustained write performance at 750KB per second. The company recently announced a flash memory breakthrough that permits a 1.6MB per second performance today, with anticipated write performance exceeding 3MB next year. Flash memory write performance is becoming a critical component of a camera's ability to take consecutive pictures quickly as camera resolutions continue to increase.

Lexar Media's core technology was originally developed at Cirrus Logic, the world's largest independent supplier of ATA disk drive controllers. Lexar Media is the only company that focuses exclusively on digital film and connectivity solutions for digital cameras. The company maintains a strategic technology partnership with Toshiba Corporation, who is also an investor in the company. Additional venture capital is provided by St. Paul Venture Capital, APV Technology Partners, Thomvest Holdings, and several unnamed investors. The company has offices in Fremont, CA, Dallas, and Tokyo.

Lexar Media Inc. is an authorized licensee of the CompactFlash(tm) trademark. Lexar Media and the Lexar logo are trademarks of Lexar Media Inc.
