Sun Wins Prestigious PC Computing MVP and NewMedia Magazine Hyper Awards

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 1997--Sun
Microsystems, Inc. today announced that its industry leading
Netra(TM) Internet Server has received PC Computing's 1996 Most
Valuable Product (MVP) Award in the Best Web Server category and
NewMedia Magazine's 1997 Hyper Award in the Internet Server category.

Citing the Netra i server as "everything you need to serve up Web
pages at lightning speed," PC Computing editors selected it to
receive the award from a group of finalists including AST Manhattan
Commerce Pro, Digital Equipment Web AlphaServer 1000 4/266 and
Webtronics WebBox. Each Web server was judged during a comprehensive
review which evaluated usability, performance, technology, innovation
and value. The 1996 MVP awards were announced at the COMDEX/Fall
computer trade show and will be featured in the publication's January
1997 issue.

Selecting the Netra i server as one of the "highest achievements
in innovation and technical excellence," President and CEO of
NewMedia Magazine Richard Landry said, "Netra i is a product we would
