USA Video Interactive to Produce Webcast of the Amistad's OpSail 2000 Voyage Through New York City
USA Video Productions to Shoot Exclusive Webcast Footage of the Freedom Schooner Amistad from Aboard the Mystic Whaler during OpSail 2000 in New York City
Mystic, CT - June 30, 2000 - As the nation prepares to celebrate its 224th year of Independence, USA Video Productions, a subsidiary of USA Video Interactive (NBQ: USVO; CDNX: US; www.usvo.com), will be producing webcast footage of the Freedom Schooner Amistad from aboard the Mystic Whaler during the tall ships parade on the 4th of July in New York City.
From aboard the majestic Mystic Whaler tall ship, the USA Video Productions crew will be shooting video footage of the Amistad as it sails in the tall ships parade in New York City this Tuesday. From there, the raw content will be edited and digitally encoded inside the USA Video Interactive lab, and made available to Internet viewers through USA Video's patented Video-on-Demand™ technologies beginning on July 10th. Viewers will be able to access the webcast through links at both www.usvo.com and www.amistadamerica.org.
"When you look at the mission of the AMISTAD America project, and the involvement of the Amistad in the OpSail event on the 4th of July, you can see a unique opportunity for AMISTAD America to truly make a substantial impact," said Edwin Molina, President of USA Video Interactive. "For some of us, the 4th of July 2000 will represent almost 225 years of freedom, but for others, it may evoke different feelings and thoughts of slavery and other past injustices. It is our hope that by celebrating the Amistad on the 4th of July, and having it sail among some of the most dignified vessels from around the world, OpSail and the Amistad can begin to help educate about, and fill in historical gaps surrounding the issues of, slavery. USA Video Interactive is proud and honored to bring this historical event and its message to the world via the Internet."
