MSNBC's 'Now' Doesn't Bother to Mention Congressional Hearing on Benghazi

NewsBusters ^ 10/10/2012

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform convened for a hearing on Wednesday at 12 p.m. EDT to delve into the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

Detailed accounts were heard, revelatory statements were made, but MSNBC's noon time program Now with Alex Wagner was too busy criticizing everything Mitt Romney has said over the last few years to even acknowledge what was transpiring, much less dip in to cover the hearing itself.

Almost 44 minutes into the hour-long program, the subject changed. Something was happening in our nation's capital, but it wasn't what any informed citizen would've expected it to be. Standing on the steps of the Supreme Court was another MSNBC host, Al Sharpton, speaking out on the importance of affirmative action.

CNN Newsroom and America Live on Fox News both fulfilled their obligation to inform the American people of what was going on as it happened. Staying true to form, MSNBC pundits ignored the actual news and editorialized to their hearts' content.
