The individiual is Jesus Christ who said "He that hath seen me hath seen the Father."

Osama says very similar things about Mohammed. The standard of satisfactory verification is not met in either case. What anyone said is not verification. What anyone believes is not verification. Ancient stories passed down by word of mouth are not verification.

the satisfactory verification offered you is the same that was offered doubting Thomas who said when confronted with the prospect of a risen Christ

That verification has not been offered to me, or to anyone else alive on this planet today.

Quite frankly, Steven, the Christian believes that it is all a matter of faith which comes with redemption.

Fine. You are absolutely entitled to that faith, and so is anyone else who chooses to embrace it. When Denton declares, though, that "our national objectives, policies and laws should reflect obedience to the will of Almighty God", he crosses a line between voluntary faith and imposed submission. Denton wants the will of his God, as interpreted by him, to be imposed on an entire nation. Many of the people in that nation do not share his beliefs. Anyone of any faith who crosses that line must be opposed by all who support freedom. You obviously understand this, as you write: "my personal experience is mine. It does not give me the right to try to impose it on others". I’m not sure Denton understands it.

The world would be a much happier and much safer place if the distinction between “I believe” and “I know” were more generally respected.
