PP,

Until the carriers can charge $100/month and people are still standing in line to pay for it (DSL or cable), the high-speed Internet is just another passing fad.

Dang, I wished I'd come up with that line. Hehe. I totally agree.

In the same vein, a study mentioned today in Total Tele mag said that a recent survey of Swedish consumers indicates that about 20% of the people in the survey were interested in 3G wireless services. And at a rate of about $25/mo. Now most of the SPs on the continent have built a cost structure where they need 50% market saturation at something north of $50/mo. to break even. This doesn't seem so good. No wonder BT, DT and others are proposing to set their 3G wireless units free as IPOs later in the year. Hopefully, they'll get stuck, just like they did in the recent Orange IPO, where the market simply said no. The European UMTS crowd have some serious egg on their faces, and some shareholders who are going to demand to see heads roll. As well they should.

L8R, Ray :)
