"Because growing up, I liked watching The Dukes of Hazzard."

..and you took the good ol' boys on TV for REALITY? Let me clue you in.

I'd was born in Houston, grew up in Indiana and Illinois as my dad followed his company moving around. When I was in seventh grade, my dad's corp moved to Oxford, Mississippi. This was a year after James Meredith entered the University of Mississippi as the first black student.

I was big for a seventh grader, and began hanging with some high school students - good ol' boys, just like on Dukes of Hazard!

Our school was "integrated" - it had one black student! I don't know if the black school was integrated.

One weekend we were cruising around town when one of the guys suggest we cruise n*ggertown again. I hadn't been there the first time.

We went and spotted a n*gger walking down the street on our side! One of the guys pulled a garden claw from under the seat as the driver buzzed the n*gger. He seemed to take off about half the poor guys ass with that claw!

It was the last time I hung with those guys. I became best friends with an American indian. We moved to Austin after living there a year. Nothing happened to those guys, or me.
