After posting the release date for Vista, I started to think about boot camp and parallels. Will Apple wait for the final release version of Vista to release Leopard with the best chance for Boot Camp to succeed? Or, as a developer, will they see what Vista has beforehand and know how to position it? The same should be able to be said for MSFT and its support for Leopard. With their Mac unit, they have to have the developers copy so they have a good idea about what is in Leopard before any non developers know. They have to know at least some of the surprises that Apple promised at wwdc.

So the question is, what will Apple do? Will they try to upstage MSFT and release Leopard first(if it is ready) or will they wait for Vista to come and then release Leopard? I think since they probably have a good idea about how things are going with Vista, they are in a better position to make the decision and that is why they changed the ship date on Leopard. I think that Apple will try to pre-release Leopard to try to get some of the hardware upgrade money that people may be saving for Vista but that is just pure speculation on my part. As always, it will be interesting.
