Barry, RE future Intel chips

Nice note, I too would like to see others expand on this chart. I like your question "what will the capabilities of these chips mean".

I sometimes wonder if all the expanding computing power/speed will give users anything beyond a better game machine? With the exception of effective voice recognition, I don't see any new compelling PC *functions* on the horizon that arn't available with current technology. I would like to see your chart with a 4th column, titled "new function".

I think A. Grove has a handle on this, he was quoted in today's WSJ, when asked about new chips from AMD, Cyrix, stated Intel wasn't focused on competitors as much as on increasing the capabilities of PC's, to continue to expand sales.
