Europe - Novell & Unisys Team On Intranet Sales

Topic Matched: Collaborative Computing

Comtex, December 5, 1996

BRACKNELL, BERKSHIRE, ENGLAND, 1996 DEC 5 (Newsbytes) -- By Steve Gold.
Novell and Unisys Global Customer Services (GCS) have signed an
agreement for Unisys to resell corporate licensing agreements (CLAs) to
medium- and large-sized customers in Europe, Middle East, and Africa
(EMEA).

In addition to the EMEA agreement, both companies have signed a
technical service agreement offering customers a single point of contact
for all Novell pre- and post-sales service demands.

According to Novell, CLA allows distributed businesses to choose from
a range of purchasing, site-licensing, and servicing options. The
networking company claims that customers also benefit from preferential
pricing that recognizes their commitment to buying Novell networking and
groupware products in volume.

Under the joint service agreement signed by Unisys GCS and Novell, 45
GCS Certified Novell Engineers (CNEs) will receive training on the
latest software versions from Novell. They will provide support services
through Unisys GCS customer support centers.

Announcing the Unisys sales arrangements, Lalit Nathwani, migration
and intranet program manager for GCS, said that he sees the deal as a
major opportunity for both companies. "It's going to help customers
upgrade their networks to intranets," he said. "We will offer a range of
network and migration services under the CLA which will help Novell's
new and existing customers deploy NetWare and IntranetWare throughout
their organizations."

According to Nathwani, a Novell veteran before moving to Unisys,
customers can implement Novell networking technology with minimal
overhead, "yet remain in complete control."

Further details of the deal between the two companies can be found on
Unisys' Web pages at unisys.com .
