Bob Stovall used to bring it up every year on Wall Street Week. It's not perfect, but has a very good record over the years.

The "Superbowl Theory" is one which we cover at the beginning of every new calendar year.

With this theory, which has been correct in 27 of the last 32 years, the league which wins the Super Bowl will determine whether the S&P 500 (the market) ends up or down for that respective year.

If the National Football Conference wins the Super Bowl, expect a good year for the market.
