re: You mean Clarke, Tenet, Clinton, et al. were lying when they said that they warned Bush about bin Laden before he took office in 2000?

No they wern't lying. But I don't think they imagined 9/11, as I don't think Bush imagined 9/11. Otherwise you would have to blame Bush for not getting bin Laden before 9/11.

re: You mean, nobody knew that bin Laden was behind the Cole bombing, the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center, the embassy bombings, etc., etc., etc.?

WTC yes; Cole, not until Clinton was a lame duck, embassy bombings mixed. But that's all beside the point that I was trying to make; that Bush had the chance to get bid Laden, and more importantly the al Qaeda leadership in Afghanistan, and he didn't take advantage of it. And the "etc., etc., etc." you mention include all the al Qaeda attacks since 9/11, 95% from bin Laden.

re: I don't think so. *Bzzzt.* But we have a lovely consolation prize for you, collect it on the way out.

What a nice thread. When I saw "professional" in the tag line, and read the description, I thought you folks might be open minded.

I'll answer the other post to me and then I'll be gone. Enjoy your "professionalism".
