Agree. A tragic mistake.

The only thing that has bothered me to some extent is the length of the attack. One would think that correct identification could have been achieved within a few minutes. The accounts I've read indicate that the attack took place for at least an hour, surely enough time to properly identify the vessel.

This bit of uncertainty is probably attributable to the unsophisticated communications systems of the 1960s.

Cui bene? Certainly not Israel.
