The racism manifested is rather small. And in at least a few cases was by infiltrators, not by people sharing the tea party ideas of freedom, limited government, reduced spending, and more fiscal discipline as their central concerns.

Racism is an underlying issue but not the main focus. To my knowledge no one has claimed otherwise.

All in all its essentially a non-issue except in the words of those who want to trump it up to falsely tar their opponents and try to shut them out of the political debate.

It doesn't take much to trump things up when you have stuff like this:

There were not words to adequately describe how I felt when I saw that poster. Teabaggers are the lesser of us and should be ignored.

Again the tea party protests have generally been much better behaved than those of many protests groups on the left.
