A lot of the reason I was holding Intel was because Intel would once again distance istelf from the competition with the Merced. Now this gets pushed back a year. Meanwhile AMD has put some pressure on with the K6-2-3D, stealing some of Intels FPU gaming hype...and really burying the Celery chip. Meanwhile, Cyrix, which looks like low man on the Totem Pole, has new life breathed into it because they have an extra year to make hay with the Cayenne core with it's raw FPU power vs the lager die Pentium 1/2. While the K6-2 and K6-3 will a be good inexpensive alternative gamer CPU, the Cayenne from Cyrix will have the RAW FPU power that the K6 lacks. Not to mention IDT...
Intel seems to be in a position to lose more market share. Not to mention the aformentioned glut of Chips which is about to increase.
50's maybe...I know I won't be there. I'm hoping for a rally.
